At Helsby High School, we recognise the important role that healthy eating plays in supporting our students’ wellbeing, concentration, and ability to achieve their full learning potential. We are committed to providing nutritious, balanced meals that help students remain energised and ready to learn throughout the school day.
Our dining provision is designed to meet the requirements of the National School Food Standards, ensuring that students have access to healthy, varied, and balanced food choices.
The dining hall provides a welcoming and positive environment for students and is supervised by senior members of the school team. Staff are present throughout break and lunchtimes to ensure students are safe, supported, and able to enjoy their meal and social time with friends.
We operate SCOPAY, a secure cashless payment system which allows parents and carers to make online payments for school meals. The system removes the need for students to bring cash into school and provides a convenient way to manage meal payments. Students who are entitled to Free School Meals receive their meal allowance through the same cashless system. This ensures confidentiality and means that all students are treated equally when purchasing food in the dining hall. Parents and carers who believe their child may be eligible for Free School Meals are encouraged to contact the school for further information.
We value student voice and are committed to continuously improving our food offer. Students’ views on the dining hall experience and the quality and variety of food available are regularly sought through the School Council. Feedback is carefully considered and, where possible, informs future menu development and dining hall improvements. By working in partnership with students, parents, carers, and our catering provider, we aim to create a dining experience that supports healthy lifestyles and contributes positively to the overall school experience.
