Helsby High School are delighted to announce the grand opening of our newly refurbished Fitness Suite! Members of the Year 7 and 8 Student Council met with Youth Fed representative Mike Jones to partake in a ribbon cutting celebration ceremony, where the new equipment was revealed.
Helsby High School is taking part in a project to get students more active across our region and secured a bid to fund the new equipment in the Fitness Suite with Active Cheshire and Youth Fed. We have also secured a two year partnership with Youth Fed to help support young people learn about the many benefits of staying fit. Helsby High School staff and students want to express their gratitude and thanks to Active Cheshire and Youth Fed who kindly funded the creation of the fitness suite, and to Mike for joining our students for the big reveal!
In celebration of the grand opening, our new Fitness Suite was tried and tested by Year 7 and 8 students, who had a superb time navigating the new equipment! We hope that offering our students 4 evenings a week, lessons, and break and lunch clubs in the Fitness Suite using the new machines and equipment, will provide a unique and well-equipped space for students to enjoy exercising. This newly refurbished Fitness Suite boasts everything from rowing machines, treadmills and exercise bikes to weight machines and free weight stations, there truly is something for every one of our students to enjoy!
We were particularly pleased to be involved in the Active Cheshire and Youth Fed project, as earlier this year we asked our student voice about how we could improve our current school facilities, and a large number of students raised the idea of improvements to the existing Fitness Suite. This got us thinking, bidding and then implementing! We are an inclusive, supportive and encouraging community at Helsby High School, where valuing others and achieving success are at the forefront of everything we do. We want all students to have access to this facility and equipment, and hope that this fun-filled environment will allow students to flourish, de-stress, socialise and enjoy exercise! At Helsby High School we try our best to respond timely and listen to our student voice when suggestions are made and feedback is given, therefore, we are so grateful to Active Cheshire and Youth Fed for the funding they have provided, which has made granting our students wishes possible!
We look forward to introducing all our students to this enjoyable space in the coming weeks.
