Over the February half term, I spent 3 days in the Houses of Parliament, interning with our local MP , Mike Amesbury. I was given tours around parliament, attended debates and committees and was given the opportunity to see Prime Ministers Questions. Half of my time was spent in the office learning the parliamentary ropes and experiencing what it would be like to work full time for an MP. This consisted of searching and submitting parliamentary questions and raising issues within the local community. It was an exciting time to be in parliament as serious votes were happening and there was also protest taking place outside, so it was fascinating to see how they are managed within the government.
