Foyle Young Poet Of The Year Award

We are so proud of Chloe W, Year 13, who headed to London to the awards ceremony for the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award. Chloe’s poem was  judged against more than 15,800 poems written worldwide, and Chloe placed amongst the top 100 young poets in the competition, out of more than 6,600 poets! Chloe’s poem will be published in an online anthology and available to read in early Spring next year – what an achievement! Congratulations Chloe, you should be extremely proud of your excellent achievement!

Chloe shared more about her experience with us:

“My experience on going to London was thrilling to say the least. I’ve only been twice before at a young age, so I’m delighted to have formed some lovely memories there – going to the Shakespeare Globe especially. I do love Shakespeare’s plays and the opportunity to be in the space of such historical significance made me ecstatic. The ceremony for the poetry award itself felt very rewarding and their recognition of my poem filled me with a motivation to continue on with creative writing. Meeting other young poets with the ability to view their poetic styles and better myself as a poet was exceptionally interesting and enlightening.” By Chloe W.
