On Wednesday 21st June 2023 our Y8 Football Team competed in a tournament against other local schools. Overall, Helsby won 1 game (3-0), drew 1 game (0-0), and lost 2 games (1-0 and 3-0).
In the 3-0 win Will B was trying a new CM role and wow did he perform! Scoring 2 goals from being in the right place at the right time, both goals being placed on a plate by Kai D. Alex M managed to place his first goal lovely in the top right corner. The subs came on in the second half and managed to help the secure our first and only win of the tournament.
In the 0-0 draw we completely controlled the game with Josh trying and doing well in a CDM role. We created many chances but unfortunately couldn’t put them in the back of the net.
In the 3-0 loss we were playing a strong physical Heath side, their team were taller and stronger than ours and communicated well.
In 1-0 loss we were playing Wade Deacon, they hadn’t lost a game yet so they were heading into our game with heads up and confidence at the max. We played well to start off with, constant pressure, good communication and an overall decent shift. Unfortunately, they gave it their all in the second half and scored a list minute winner to secure their place in the final.
