Choosing the right place to study is an important decision for any young person. I hope that this Sixth Form section of our website will give you a flavour of the wide range of academic and enrichment opportunities available at Sixth Form Helsby, as well as the varied programme of leadership activities available to all our students.
Although our website can help to explain the courses, facilities, and opportunities available at Sixth Form Helsby, it cannot communicate the foundation on which our Sixth Form is built, this is experienced by our students as they study with us. All procedures at Sixth Form Helsby have been planned to give our students the opportunity to talk about their learning, their interests, their physical and mental health, their career pathways and most importantly the person they want to be in the world around them. This helps them make the right decisions as they develop into a young professional.
At Sixth Form Helsby our students will have a specially chosen Progress Mentor who will help them find the right career focused Network. Our innovative Network structure will ensure they get targeted and award winning, career and pastoral support and will give them the opportunity to learn and socialise with like-minded people. The 1:1 support meetings with their Progress Mentor enable them to develop important strategies which ensure they remain socially and mentally healthy as well academically successful. Our Sixth Form students also take full advantage of our Wednesday afternoon enrichment programme. Here they work with a different set of teachers and peers from their lessons and develop important life skills.
Having spent several years leading the Expressive Arts team, I bring a wealth of Sixth Form teaching experience. Sixth Formers under my care have succeeded in their academic studies and thrived through their extra-curricular experiences. This has ensured these students have had important enrichment opportunities, work experiences and secured their chosen higher education placement. I have a clear vision to hone and develop this already successful Sixth Form based around preparing resilient and proactive young people for higher education and the world of work. With the support of my experienced Sixth Form Team, we will ensure that every aspect of our work values the voices of young people, facilitates their happiness and success, and prepares them for their future achievements.
