There was much joy and celebration at Helsby High School this morning as results revealed richly-deserved success for the Year 11 ‘Class of 2025’. Throughout their time at the school the students have shown wonderful resilience, and their commitment and hard work has led to fabulous GCSE outcomes which will enable them to successfully progress their plans for the next stage of their lives.
Students performed strongly across all areas of the school’s curriculum, with over three quarters of all students achieving a Grade 4 or above in English and in Maths. Equally impressive was performance at higher grades, with over half of the year group achieving a ‘strong’ GCSE pass of Grade 5 or above in both key subject areas.
Natalie Witcher, their Year Leader over the last 12 months, commented: “We couldn’t be more proud of our Year 11 students and their achievements. We now wish this fantastic group of young people all the very best for the future as they move on to their exciting next steps and we are really looking forward to having the pleasure of continuing to work with many of them in our Sixth Form.”
Headteacher Martin Hill said: “Year 11 students first joined the school in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, and so couldn’t have had a more difficult start to secondary school life. Hence to see them 5 years later achieve so well in their examinations is particularly special. They have done so as a result of their own determination and support for each other, and also the support of their families and staff at the school. Well done to all involved – and especially to the students themselves, who thoroughly deserve their every success.”
Amongst the many Helsby High students celebrating today were the following, who impressively achieved the very highest possible Grade 9 in more than one of the GCSE subjects they studied: Alexa Cardus; Eleanor Ellis; Izzy Garner; Alexander Hampson; Bethany Hardy; Dylan Howe; Emily Longden; Hadi Needham; Jack Rhodes; Benjamin Wickham; Owen Williams; Finn Williamson; Lilly Wilson and Eloisa Wiseman.
